Nrg2tri stalwart, Nigel Curwen, recently took on the might of IM Brasil, and although the land of the g-string threw up a curve ball or two he finished and finished well. If you look closely at the photo above you can in fact see a ‘Moon Boot’, and YES he ran the whole marathon in that moon boot. When you have trained hard and travelled half way around the world only to be told 4 days out from the race that you have a stress fracture in the foot, there would normally be only one thing to do. That would be sink into the pool and drink your body weight in alcohol. Not Nige. No he went and found a Doc who could fit him out with a moon boot, drug him up and let him race. Now Nige had been flying in run training and was thinking a low 3 hr run was a good chance. As it was he put together a 54 min swim, 5 hr 5 min bike and a 4 hr 30 min run, which still put him on the finish line in 10 and a half hours, better than most able bodied athletes can dream of.

Although he missed out on his Hawaii dream this year you can bet he will be back and racing the on the Big Island before you can say stressie.
